Type: Full-time | Entry to Early Career

About the Role

Sunstone Environmental Solutions is a Nevada-based environmental consulting firm serving the mining and industrial sectors across the Western U.S. We specialize in permitting, compliance, environmental planning, and project management—with a strong focus on quality, integrity, and practical solutions. Our team works from home and thrives on autonomy, flexibility, and delivering exceptional results for our clients.

This is an ideal launchpad for driven early-career professionals eager to tackle fieldwork, permitting, and compliance under the supervision of senior experts. If you’ve felt your efforts overlooked in past roles, here you’ll get the recognition and rewards that match your hustle – fueling rapid growth in a merit-based environment.

What You’ll Do

This role offers hands-on exposure to fieldwork, environmental compliance, reporting, and project support. You’ll work under the guidance of experienced team members and support a variety of client projects.

  • Field Work: Conduct environmental sampling, inspections, and monitoring (groundwater, well water, surface water, etc.)
  • Project Support: Assist in executing baseline programs and compliance plans.
  • Report Writing: Draft environmental reports, inspection memos, and permit submittals.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with subcontractors and internal staff to complete deliverables.
  • Field Oversight: Participate in field programs including construction, drilling, reclamation, or environmental monitoring.
  • Mapping and Analysis: Use CAD and/or GIS (if experienced) for data review and site planning.
What You Bring
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Hydrology or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–5 years of relevant experience (internships, technician roles, or previous consulting work preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with sampling protocols, basic permitting processes, and field safety; GIS/CAD experience preferred but not required.
  • Work Style: Strong writing skills, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently or in teams.
  • Travel: Willing and able to travel up to 3 days per week, including overnights to remote sites.
  • Field Ready: Comfortable driving to remote sites, hiking rough terrain, and navigating changing weather.
  • Location: Must live in the greater Reno area or be willing to relocate upon hire.
What Makes This Role Different
  • Hands-On Growth: Get exposure to real projects with mentorship and guidance from senior professionals.
  • Flexibility: Base from home in the Reno area, with travel for fieldwork and a hybrid schedule in person at our future office.
  • Career Path: Clear opportunities to grow into Consultant II and beyond as your skills and experience grow.
  • Valued Expertise: We prioritize curiosity and execution – your contributions drive client wins and get noticed from day one.
  • High-Performance Rewards: Hard work pays off with competitive pay, performance bonuses, and fast-track promotions. Join a merit-driven team where top performers are recognized, challenged, and compensated for going above and beyond – while staying available during core hours (8–5) for team momentum.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: Competitive Salary, TBD based on experience.
  • Health: Company-paid medical, dental, and vision.
  • 401(k): With 4% company match.
  • Time Off: Flexible time off—schedule as needed, provided deliverables are met.
  • Work Culture: Results-oriented and collaborative, emphasizing professional growth and rewarding good work.
