In the Tool Maker position you will fabricate tooling components for molds, jigs, and fixtures as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

  • Manufactures functional tooling from project prints and CAD/CAM systems to meet specified tolerances. •
  • \n
  • Efficiently operates all standard Tool Room machines and inspection equipment. •
  • \n
  • Operates all polishing equipment and maintains equipment and supplies to support work load. •
  • \n
  • Blends radius and angular surfaces, shut-offs, repairs minor textures surfaces, blends runner, gates and polishes surfaces etc. within specified flatness. •
  • \n
  • Makes and sharpens cutting tools. •
  • \n
  • Assists in planning projects for timely completion. •
  • \n
  • Performs minor machine maintenance. •
  • \n
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and follows safety procedures. •
  • \n
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    \n
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years technical/apprenticeship training.
  • \n
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • \n
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • \n
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • \n
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • \n
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate all standard Tool Room equipment.
  • \n
  • Ability to interpret engineering blue prints and operate a CAD system.
  • \n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
