Senior Accountant (Remote)
Compensation: $85,000–$95,000

Position Summary
The Senior Accountant serves as a key member of the client services team, providing advanced accounting and advisory support to a diverse portfolio of nonprofit and for-profit clients. This role focuses on maintaining the integrity of client financial data, managing full-cycle accounting activities, and delivering insights that drive operational and financial excellence. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting, net asset tracking, and grant management, along with a strong understanding of general accounting principles across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple clients, including month-end and year-end close processes.
Oversee restricted and unrestricted net assets, ensuring compliance with donor and grant agreements.
Prepare, review, and post journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments as needed
Oversee general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement accuracy.
Supervise and support staff accountants, providing coaching and review of deliverables for quality and accuracy.
Track and reconcile grant activity, budgets, and reporting deadlines.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and client use.
Support annual audit preparation, including coordination of audit requests and document submissions.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable nonprofit accounting standards
Collaborate with clients to interpret and analyze financial reports, providing recommendations for improvement.
Serve as the primary client contact for assigned accounts, ensuring responsive and effective communication.
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and workflow efficiency across client engagements.
Stay informed of industry standards, nonprofit regulations, and accounting best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CPA-track preferred
5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity
Experience in nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, net asset, and grant management
Familiarity with real estate or development accounting preferred
Full understanding of financial statements and GAAP compliance
Demonstrated proficiency with general ledger management, reconciliations, and journal entries
Prior experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior accounting staff
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proficient with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools
Versed in project management or workflow systems such as Wolters Kluwer, ClickUp, Asana, or similar systems
Skilled in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication, organization, and client-service orientation in a remote work environment
